CPLD (Complex Programmable Logic Device) ist ein hochdichtes programmierbares Logikbauelement mit einer Integrationsdichte von über 1000 Gattern, mehreren Eingangs-/Ausgangssignalen, Produkttermen und Makroeinheiten. Es besteht hauptsächlich aus drei Teilen: Logikblöcken, programmierbaren Verbindungskanälen und E/A-Blöcken und zeichnet sich durch hohe Dichte, hohe Geschwindigkeit und geringen Stromverbrauch aus. CPLD basiert auf der Produktterm-Technologie und benötigt kein externes EEPROM zur Konfiguration. Es besteht aus programmierbaren UND-Gattern, ODER-Gatter-Arrays und Makroeinheiten und eignet sich für den Entwurf komplexer kombinatorischer Logikschaltungen.
